Part of an itegrated team of architects, planners, ecologists and historians; Siteworks is helping plan a major new town development based on a combination of both ecological and traditional town planning principles. A process of site analysis and investigations have led to the development of a new master plan and set of proposed codes for development on the property that are aimed at accomplishing energy efficiency, ecological balance, protection of water resources and the engagement of the cultural history of the site. The project master plan includes various densities of residential development, a mixed use civic core and a high density mixed use commercial district. Along with these neighborhood typologies a new county elementary school, a regional environmental history museum, an organic farming operation and a diverse park system that will include recreational areas, preservation zones, a trail system and archaeological sites will be developed on the property that sits along the Catawba River.
