Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum

This museum is being developed as a holistic place of discovery, education and adventure. To be located in donated public parkland it will serve as both museum and enhancement of the public realm of the park. The project is aiming to aquire a LEED platinum certification and will be a model of ecological intelligence. The landscape of the project is developed around the topographic structure of the site and by the organization and expression of the local watershed through a program of bioretention gardens, stream restoration, roof meadows, native groves, landform sculpture and incorporation of public art. The various outdoor exhibits focus on elemental conditions of water, solar energy and aspect, wind and geology.
