Having recently set down his tool belt and hammer to move into a design studio environment, Galin comes to landscape architecture with a strong education for how things will be ultimately constructed. But beyond the detailing a particular joint, he has a variety of experiences in both planning and landscape architecture. His work for the City of Charlottesville and the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission gave him direct involvement in city and regional master planning while his work with the University of Virginia Architecture School’s ecoMOD 1 project gave him direct exposure to sustainable design and construction at a specific site. All of his professional and studio work required sensitivity to an existing site history with a design response that deftly negotiated between old and new.
